Responsibilities
- Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist dentist during dental procedures.
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
- Obtain dental records
- Take and develop x-rays
- Record treatment information in patient chart
- Take/ record medical/dental histories and vital signs of patient
- Provide preoperative instructions prescribed by dentists
- Assist in management of medical and dental emergencies
- Take/pour/trim/polish impressions
- Instruct patients on oral hygiene
- Assist in adjusting crowns/partials/dentures
- Pack/unpack lab cases that come into the office
- Order supplies
- Make temporary crowns
