Job Summary: Preparing patients for a dental exam and perform chair-side duties and assisting the dentist. A typical day is 8-10 hours.

  • Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist dentist during dental procedures.
  • Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
  • Obtain dental records
  • Take and develop x-rays
  • Record treatment information in patient chart
  • Take/ record medical/dental histories and vital signs of patient
  • Provide preoperative instructions prescribed by dentists
  • Assist in management of medical and dental emergencies
  • Take/pour/trim/polish impressions
  • Instruct patients on oral hygiene
  • Assist in adjusting crowns/partials/dentures
  • Pack/unpack lab cases that come into the office
  • Order supplies
  • Make temporary crowns
  • Keep dentist on schedule
