The New Year May Mean New Dental Benefits For You To Use

How’s 2013 treating you so far? Very well, I hope! The New Year always makes me think back on the year that has passed and I do a review of my ongoing mental to-do list that I think of time to time throughout the year. My to-do list includes all of the things that I meant to get done throughout the year, like reorganizing my pantry or weeding out my closets for items that I can donate. Things like getting my tires rotated and getting my teeth cleaned. If you’ve had visiting your dentist on your to-do list but haven’t managed to make an appointment, there’s no time like the present!

If you’ve been meaning to visit the dentist but didn’t get around to it before 2012 came to an end, be sure not to let another year pass without making your dental health a priority. Now that it’s 2013, you may have an added bonus to help make that visit to the dentist all the more appealing…your dental insurance. Do you have dental insurance? Do you know when your dental insurance benefits renew each year? For many people it is January 1st. You get to start the year with a clean slate and a full dental maximum waiting for you to utilize.

If you are unsure about when your benefits renew, you can check with your dental insurance carrier by calling their customer service phone number which should be located on your dental insurance card. You can also check with your human resources department at your work place. You can also call your dentist office. The insurance coordinator should have a complete breakdown of your insurance benefits including plan details like when your benefits renew.

Maybe you had dental work done in 2012 and used up all of your benefits and had been putting off your next visit while waiting for your benefits to renew. Now may be the time! It’s important to know your plan so you can take the most advantage of your benefits. Do you know if you plan allows you two cleanings per year? If it has been longer than six months since your last visit, it’s time for a cleaning and checkup. Have you been dealing with a broken or chipped tooth or a pesky toothache? You don’t have to live with dental pain. Call your dentist today.

So what is one to do if you don’t have dental insurance or you have used up all of your benefits and they haven’t renewed yet? Putting off dental care is not a safe option, especially since dental pain usually cannot be resolved on its own. Your dentist may offer an interest free financing option to make paying for your dental care more manageable. Talk to your dentist today and make your dental health a priority in 2013.
